How learning works at FitForm
3,004 vocabulary entries, 300 original readings and a writing tutor — arranged so that twenty honest minutes a day actually moves a CEFR level.
Vocabulary: spaced repetition
Words sit in seven Leitner boxes. Answer correctly and the word comes back after 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 then 35 days; answer wrongly and it drops to box 0 and returns in about six minutes. The schedule is the whole point — reviewing a word on the day you are about to forget it is what makes it stick.
Every entry carries its part of speech, CEFR level, topic, Vietnamese meaning, an English definition, an example sentence and an IPA pronunciation. The pronunciations come from the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary, converted from ARPAbet to IPA with stress marks.
Besides the review schedule there are exercise sets: the same vocabulary reshuffled into hundreds of short quizzes using four question types — Vietnamese→English, English→Vietnamese, fill the gap, and match the definition. The shuffle is seeded, so a given set is the same for everyone and can be discussed in class.
Readings
300 readings written by the team, from 200-word B1 pieces to 600-word C1 essays, across technology, economics, engineering, science, history, geography, psychology, environment, culture, art and careers. Each one has detail questions, at least one inference question and one open-response question, plus the target vocabulary with pronunciations.
Reading speed and comprehension are tracked against targets of 200 words per minute and 80% accuracy. Every wrong answer goes into the error book.
A daily strip of technology and business headlines, pulled from public RSS feeds, keeps the page current. Only the headline and a short excerpt are stored, always with the source name and a link to the original article.
Writing
Paste an essay and get two kinds of marking:
- Quick marking — free and unlimited. Everything that can be counted: length, paragraph structure, over-long sentences, linking words, lexical range, repeated words and familiar slips.
- AI marking — a Claude model reads the whole essay, quotes each mistake with the correction and the reason, lists strengths and improvements, suggests vocabulary and rewrites one paragraph. One essay per week on the free plan.
The error book
Every mistake is kept as history, grouped by day, with the meaning and an example. Words missed twice or more are called out separately, and one button turns the error book into a practice deck of exactly those words.
Learning counts as training
Minutes of study feed the same leaderboard as exercise, a studying student shows as "learning" in real time beside students who are training, and the daily community challenge counts both.
Reading is open to everyone
All 300 readings can be read without an account. Exercises, vocabulary review and essay marking need a FitForm login.
